Torrance House entertained Meikleriggs on Saturday 9th June and suffered some pain in the rain

Meikleriggs were the visitors to Torrance House in a match which was always going to be affected by the weather conditions.

Winning the toss, Torrance House invited the opposition to bat first, the bowling opened by David Healy and Nick Ralphs, keen to make use of the conditions. In another excellent opening spell, D Healy removed 3 batters for the loss of 25 runs putting Torrance House in control. Meikleriggs opening bat and no 5 were then able to put a partnership together which swung the control back to the visitors. As the rain started to come down, Torrance House began to struggle with the wet ball as the fielding conditions deteriorated. Ally Dalgleish's mystery spin was introduced and in partnership with the captain Alan Meikle, 20 overs of slow bowling yielded 6 wickets for the loss of 68 runs with Dalgleish claiming 4 wickets and the Captain 2. Nick Ralphs claimed the final wicket with Meikleriggs being bowled out for 209 which in the conditions was a challenging total to chase.

The strong batting line up fielded by Torrance House enabled the Home side to chase the total with some confidence and although the fielding conditions eased through the innings it was never easy to bowl or bat.

Gavin Meikle continued his good form scoring a solid 28 runs at the top of the innings, wickets were however falling regularly at the other end. With Meikleriggs in complete control the strength of Torrance House's batting line up began a fightback which almost took Torrance House past the winning post. Contributions from Gareth Urquhart, Alan Meikle, Steven Pearson and Keiran Manchip all helped to support Andrew Kampman whose 48 runs almost turned the match.

In the end the challenge proved too much and Torrance House were eventually bowled out for 195 next up a trip to Albert Park.
