Home versus Whitehaugh

A glorious sunny day , saw Whitehaugh arrive at Torrance House to find a pitch that was hard and an outfield that was drying fast, and was a credit to the groundsman.
The toss was won by EK skipper Alan Meikle and he elected to bowl first. The opening overs were bowled by Andrew Kampman and David Healy , and they both proved troublesome for the batsman.
It was David Healy however who got the wickets , as he finished a full ten over spell with the wickets of the top 3 Whitehaugh batsmen. The Whitehaugh number four however was batting freely and the score was increasing fast despite the wickets falling. Iftikhar Kahn picked up a wicket, and was the tightest of the EK bowlers, however Stewart Kampman got the wicket that mattered as he had the Whitehaugh stroke maker caught by wicketkeeper Gavin Meikle for an entertaining 73. With Andrew Kampman and Gavin Meikle combining for 2 run outs, and wickets at the end for Calum Edmond and Rajesh Kumar , the final score for EK to chase was 179.

In reply Gavin Meikle was out without scoring, and this brought Stewart Kampman to the crease. He batted in partnership with Alan Meikle, as the pair added over 100. Alan Meikle departed for a well made 44, and Stewart Kampman was finally out for 65. Andrew Kampman added a quick 20 runs, but it was left to number 6 Harris Kahn to steer the team over the line with an unbeaten 16, as EK got the target with 6 wickets and 6 overs to spare.

This victory sees the team climb above Whitehaugh in the table, and they currently lie third in the Western First Division Reserve League.
