Torrance House travelled to Albert Park on Saturday and won their first game of the season.

The Second team were away to Albert Park in for the 2nd game of the league season.

With a line up which had slightly stronger bowling strength than the previous week (trading against the batting line up), winning the toss the decision was made to ask the opposition to bat first.

Opening with Calum Edmund our 14 year old strike bowler and David Healy we bowled well in the first 12 overs although the opposition batters also batted very well and were on top getting full value for their shots. Bowling changes at either end initially looked as if it would make no difference as the Albert Park top order continued to score (aided by sloppy fielding - 2 easy dropped catches). Eventually at 99-1 EK woke up in the field and started to assist Iftikhar and Nick who were by now in top bowling form. From 99-1 no mistakes were made, some exceptional fielding (catching and run outs) had the opposition in trouble at 114 for 6. Albert Park rallied briefly getting to 133 for 7 before EK took the final wickets leaving 147 as the final total.

M Kellet finishing with 4 for 18, N Ralphs 2 for 18 and I Khan 1 for 23 being the pick

After tea and the inevitable rain delay, openers A Meikle and A MacDougall began the run chase. Runs were made steadily although the Albert Park opening bowlers ensured it was a good contest. There was one further delay for rain which once passed the ground was bathed in sunshine and in the best conditions of the day the EK team ground out the runs required. An opening stand of 74 set the foundation for the win with MacDougall scoring 32 and Meikle continuing on to 60. In the end it was left to Matthew Kellet and Stevie Pearson to steer us home.

This was a powerful team performance fighting back after the first 16 over onslaught to outplay the opposition.

Next up is a Home match on Saturday against Stenhousemuir
