2nd victory in a row

Torrance House claimed a 2nd league victory in a row again with a spirited fightback.

Winning the toss on a perfect day for cricket EK invited the opposition to bat first as the sun shone on Calderglen. EK's 2 junior opening bowlers were then met with a barrage of shots from one of the Tryst opening batsmen. At the end of 6 overs 52 runs had been bludgeoned (42 by one batsman). 2 wickets had also been claimed with both openers caught. The brief but brutal onslaught ended with a catch on the boundary. The visitors 3rd wicket partnership of 52 was the other highlight for the visitors. Once this partnership was broken wickets fell steadily due to consistently good bowling backed up with exemplary fielding (2 run outs) leaving the visitors all out on 155 after 38 overs.

For the 2nd week the EK 2's fielding allowed them to recover and achieve dominace over the opposition.

2 wickets each for Calum Edmund, Matthew Kellet (plus single wickets for Nick Ralphs, Andrew Kampman, Jill Dalgleish and Alan Meikle) plus 2 great run outs and several stunning catches highlighted a great team performance)

The visitors opening bowling was a mixture of youth and experience (both sides can be commended for having 14 year old opening bowlers - in addition, The EK side featured 5 current junior members a testament to the clubs development programme).

Openers Meikle and MacDougall were able to score freely in reply with an opening partnership of 57 coming up in 9 overs (Meikle eventually departing for 27). Ally MacDougall continued on to craft a match winning score of 66 backed up by Gareth Urqhuart, Andrew Kampman and a fine 34 not out by Nick Ralphs.

In the end Torrance House reached the target for the loss of 3 wickets and in only 27 overs.

The result moves EK's 2nd team up to third in the league and next up is an away match with Whitehaugh next week.
