2s finally notch up league win

After a miserable campaign to date the 2s finally got their league campaign going with a victory against Uddingston at Bothwell Castle.

On yet another beautiful Saturday EK won the toss and decided to bat first.

The ever dependable Alan Meikle got the innings of to a solid start with 32 backed up by Matthew and Harris who both made double figures. But the main contributions came from Sahibzada with 52 and extras of 79 which included 55 wides!

Sahibzada guest starring for a month scored 160 runs in his four innings for the team. Much appreciated runs during a tough season.

Liam marshalled the tail to finish 23 not out and the innings closed on 246 which looked to be a competitive total and hopes of a maiden 2018 win were strong.

Opening the bowling Liam showed his usual passion (maybe slightly too much on occasions!) and took a couple of wickets including a very nice slip catch low down by Alan Meikle. I think it took Alan about half an hour to straighten his back up after that effort.

Then it was time for the Iftikhar show. Bowling with great control and getting the ball to skid through he took six wickets during a wonderful spell which ripped the heart out of the Uddy batting lineup. Blair took the other wicket to complete a convincing 148 run victory.

The 2s will hope to follow this display with Ferguslie visiting Torrance House on Saturday.
